Marcela Perea, Founder and Personal Trainer, CrossFit 100
Hola and Hello! My name is Marcela Perea. I am Colombian and moved from Paris to the US in 1996. I’m married with four great kids. In 2009 I got my AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) Certification and started training clients. The year of 2009 was when I left my career as a fashion designer to pursue my true passion – fitness – full time. Soon after, my clients’ enthusiasm and successes demanded further fitness offerings, so I began teaching small group boot camps. It was around that time that I discovered and fell in love with CrossFit.
In 2010, I achieved my Level 1 CrossFit Certification and began implementing some CrossFit workouts into my boot camps and personal training sessions. I felt so strongly about the benefits of CrossFit that I decided to get to get all the certifications I could and always working on getting more. I am truly a CrossFit certification junkie! CrossFit has certainly changed my life in a big way. It is fun, challenging, and effective for me, and my clients. Once you see the benefits of CrossFit, I know you will feel the same way.
Tina Desing, Trainer at CrossFit 100.
For a long time I considered myself a “gym rat”. You could find me in the weight room, the cardio machines, in Spin class just about every day of the week. After having two kids, I was still plugging along doing the same boring routine when I given a challenge by a family member to complete a triathlon. I started participating in both triathlon and running events in 2004 and have completed a variety of sprint and half ironman distance triathlon, as well as cycling events, half marathons, 10K and 5K races, with a full marathon on the horizon in 2012. In 2005 I began to help others achieve their triathlon goals from the coaching side as part of a team of coaches providing group training for women.
In the background was always my love for strength training which was taking a back burner to endurance training – there are only so many hours in the day! I started training with MPower in 2010 and was instantly hooked. Boring is not a word that every comes to mind with CrossFit training. I love the intensity and the variety of the workouts. I love the strength that I have built over the years, both physically and mentally. I love the community that we are all a part of at CrossFit 100 by MPower. I find it very inspiring to see each of us striving to reach our goals, dramatically improving our fitness, and having a great time doing it. It seemed a natural next step to begin coaching in this area as well. I have recently completed my Level 1 CrossFit certification and am already looking forward to diving further into the CrossFit world and learning all that I can. I am excited to share what I have learned and help you to achieve your goals.
I have always been interested in fitness and nutrition. For many years I have enjoyed running, lifting weights and spinning. In 2008 I bought a road bike and joined a local bike team and started racing. I continue to race and also spend time mentoring the new women who join our team and begin racing.
When I discovered CrossFit in 2011 I fell immediately in love. It was like nothing I had ever done before. I really enjoy the competitive aspect, the never ending list of goals to be set and accomplished, and the community/family that I became a part of when I joined CrossFit 100.
In March 2012 I received my level 1 certification, and in January 2013 I received my CrossFit Endurance Cycling certification. I plan to spend time accumulating as many CrossFit certifications as I can get.
I believe that in any fitness and nutrition endeavor, if you give 100% you will have great results. In my years of experimenting with different workouts and philosophies on nutrition, I always have done this and have thus enjoyed my accomplishments. With that said, I believe that no other combination of exercise and food has ever been as effective as CrossFitting along with following their recommended ‘Nutrition in 100 Words.” I am in the best shape of my life and am eager to help others achieve their own fitness, nutrition and health goals.
